Recording notice
The invite you received says so if your meeting will be recorded and transcribed.
What is recorded
Microsoft Teams records the call and produces a transcript of what was said. No separate notetaker joins: the recording is Teams' own.
When it happens
Only in meetings arranged through MeetingConfirmed for a business that has agreed to it, and only when the invite said so. Teams starts the recording automatically when the meeting begins.
How you know
The invite and the confirmation email say the meeting will be recorded and transcribed. When recording starts, Teams shows a recording notice to everyone in the call.
How to object
Reply to the invite before the meeting, or say so at the start of the call. Objecting has no effect on the meeting going ahead.
What happens to the recording
The recording and the transcript are kept in Microsoft 365 for a limited period under our retention policy, with a transcript copy held for 24 months for the sales team that arranged the meeting, then deleted automatically.
Where it is processed
Recording and transcription by Microsoft Teams in Microsoft 365, with EU data location. The transcript copy is stored in Cloudflare R2 under EU jurisdiction. Recordings are not used to train any model.
